About Course
Space Technologies to Explore the Kármán Line And Beyond - To Distant Galaxies
This module takes young learners on a structured journey through space science, from Earth's atmosphere to distant galaxies, combining conceptual understanding with hands-on model-building and engineering design.
Students progress from understanding where space begins to exploring the solar system, the history of astronomy, constellations, galaxies, telescopes, the physics of rockets, black holes and more.
Each session builds scientific thinking while connecting classroom learning to real missions and discoveries.
By the end of this module students will:
- Understand where space begins, classify the main celestial objects and how satellites orbit Earth.
- Map the solar system and understand the concept of scaling.
- Understand various planetary motion shapes.
- Recognise constellations, classify galaxies, and build a working constellation projector.
- Understand the science behind cutting-edge space telescope technology — including Hubble and James Webb.
- Explain how rockets work and apply this understanding in a design challenge.
